Mr Whiting completed his undergraduate physics degree in 2015 at Imperial College London. He is part of the ICO Nuclear energy CDT (centre for doctoral training) and completed the MRes as part of the CDT in 2016 at Imperial College London and is continuing as a PhD candidate working on reactor pressure vessel steels. His PhD topic was a study of the formation and growth of Mn-Ni-Si rich clusters in low alloy ferritic steel using density functional theory.

Tom completed his PhD in 2020.
